The House passed the Every Student Succeeds Act on Wednesday. This overhaul to current polices replaces No Child Left Behind with conservative reforms to our nation's education system.

"This bill is about empowering parents and creating a better environment for our students by significantly reducing the federal government's role in the classroom and turning over more authority to state and local governments," said Congressman Bill Shuster. "We needed to make changes to better allow our students to reach their full potential, and replacing No Child Left Behind with a more conservative approach will have lasting effects for the nation's education system."

"I am strongly opposed to Common Core and have supported several initiatives that protect states from being forced by the Obama Administration into enacting these big government standards," continued Shuster. "Reforming our education system was necessary, and I am glad that we will be sending a bill to the president's desk that makes conservative reforms like rejecting Common Core and one-size-fits-all testing."
